Good Morning, Architects!

This is Alaskan Way, the street that runs along Elliott Bay and separates downtown Seattle from its waterfront. The most common view of this road is of the Alaskan Way Viaduct, a double-decker roadway that was inflicted on Seattle decades ago, before urban planners started embracing water as a natural part of the landscape.
The stretch you see above is a little further north, and thankfully viaduct-less.
Like cities from San Francisco to Cincinnati to New York, Seattle is also working on plan to demolish its viaduct eyesore and unify the city with the waterfront. And like in other cities, it’s going to take a lot of time, money, and politicking to make it happen.
